Sips and Strokes

When I started teaching I had no idea I'd be where I am now. I'll have to write an entry later and explain the depth that statement holds.

Anyway...during my first two years teaching I met two of the nicest girls (Jill and Wendy), both of which are two of my best friends now. We're at three different schools, and have three totally different sets of responsibilities, but manage to make sure we stay in touch. I love the fact that it may be a month between when we talk to each other, but it only seems like a few minutes have passed when we do get to talk.
Every summer we try to get together as much as possible (to make up for not being able to do so during the school year). We went to Trussville to paint at Sips and Strokes last night. It's a company local to the Birmingham area (I think there is one in Georgia somewhere, though). We had a BLAST!!! It's so funny to watch people all try to do the same thing at the same time. We all painted the same thing, but it all came out so differently because our personalities are so different. If you are interested in seeing how things turned out I posted the pictures on my Facebook page.
If you are local to the Birmingham area or if you are just passing through TRY SIPS AND STROKES!!! There are five or six different places around the Birmingham area.
I'm not being paid to plug them or anything. I just think it's an awesome experience!!! http://www.sipsnstrokes.com/

So Much Fun!

Jamey, Nathan and I went to visit Jason Simpson today at the TV Station (abc3340 in Hoover, Alabama). I really enjoyed myself. Up until the last 3 or 4 months, I haven't been in touch with Jason since High School. It is so nice to know that he's doing so well, and he is still as nice, down-to-earth, and funny as I remember.

Life (in general) tends to change people's personalities for the worse. So many people, especially Christians it seems, are bitter or resentful nowadays, no matter how good or bad their situation. You can tell that Jason knows where his strength comes from (The Lord), and that he is taking life in stride. Jamey and I strive to do the same daily. It doesn't always happen, but we try to let the Lord 'grow us' in spite of ourselves. My prayer is that Nathan sees this quality in us and our friends, and that he seeks the Lord daily in his life as he gets older.

Jamey and Nathan really enjoyed themselves today. We got to sit in on the Noon Day news broadcast to see how things worked during the show. Jamey's favorite part of the day was getting to be at the Weather Station, and getting to play with all the Tower Cameras and satellite images between the morning and noon shows. Nathan's favorite part was getting to climb up and down off the stage step! LOL Oh, the joy and simplicity of a two-year-old!

My favorite part was getting to catch up with an old classmate/newfound friend.

I'll post pictures of our trip as soon as I get them.
